Friends of DUY
Dance United Yorkshire is launching a new initiative to recruit volunteers to support its exciting dance work and make a positive difference in their lives.
We seek help to make a positive difference in our dancers' lives.
“Dance changed everything for me. The self-belief it gave me flowed into other things: into college, how I am with strangers, everything. I feel so much more focused and confident in myself. That’s what I would say to anyone joining if you let it, dance will help you in everything.” DUY Keighley Dancer.
Volunteers will assist in a range of activities, including:-
Providing practical support at activities and events, e.g. transport, help with dance sessions, chaperoning, front-of-house duties, offering support to parents, etc.
Help promote the work of Dance United Yorkshire, e.g. social media, website and performances.
Financial, e.g., accountancy skills, fundraising, and assisting with grant applications.
Helping to encourage new volunteers to join Friends of Dance United Yorkshire.
Your help would be highly valued as a volunteer. You will bring your interest and time to support the work of DUY. Previous experience in any of these roles will be welcomed but is not essential.
“L. had poor school attendance, with little pressure from home to attend. His father was in prison, and his mother struggled to manage him. However, L. fully engaged with the DUY project, building discipline, self-worth, and friendships that drew him back to school. Though his attendance required continued support, he chose to attend and left school with 5 GCSEs, later progressing to college. Without DUY, L. would likely have left school without qualifications.” – Appropriate Provisions Manager, Bradford School.
