We offer a rich programme of training and artist development with opportunities for both new and experienced dance artists.
Stage 1: Introduction to Dance United Yorkshire’s Social Inclusion Practice in Dance
Stage 1: this course provides an understanding of Dance United Yorkshire’s distinctive methodology delivered through a variety of practical activities and is suitable for dancers and non dancers who work with challenging groups or young people with complex needs. We look at behaviour management, group process, boundaries and endings within the context of our award-winning Academy programme.
New Course Dates:
DUY will be running its Stage 1 training “Introduction to Social Inclusion Practice in Dance” in Spring 2019 - dates and venue to be announced shortly.
Stage 2: Practical on-the-job training
Following on from our Stage 1 training this new course offers small groups of artists the opportunity to train alongside our delivery teams and is a unique opportunity for those who are keen to learn more about our methodology and practice. Participants will gain an in-depth and behind the scenes experience of working with the delivery of Dance United Yorkshire's choreography. Participants must have completed our Stage 1 training course before applying for Stage 2.
Keep checking for details of when our next course will run.

Artist Skills Exchange

Choreography for our Academy programmes and Performance Companies must be both imaginative and inspiring as well as being suitable for untrained bodies and challenging groups.  We continue to commission well-established choreographers and artists to collaborate with our dance teams in the creation and delivery of innovative new pieces. These collaborations are a form of reciprocal training opportunity and for all those involved it leads to a richer skill set and a deeper understanding of how to make choreography for Dance United Yorkshire’s client groups to perform.

Bespoke Training

We offer bespoke training for groups of people in a range of contexts. This includes dance companies that wish to deliver team building, one-off workshops and lectures to young people. Our highly skilled training team comes from a variety of dance and non-dance backgrounds and offers a wealth of experience and skills.
